AAA Sweet Solano:  Mutant discovered in Yellow Boar (Yellow Stripe). Very attractive yellow with green stripes turning deep orange color with gold stripes. Some hang time ability.  Stays firm, very sweet with a hint of tropical fruit.  2 – 4 OZ.

Arbuznyi:  Stunning tomato showing a unique pattern of lines similar to watermelons, hence the name Arbuznyi (watermelon in Russian). Beautiful dark red-brownish fruits with green shoulders. Medium to large, beefsteak-style, flattened and slightly ribbed. Delicious, tender flesh. Sweet, aromatic flavor. Early & productive 65-75 days

Amish Paste:  Amish heirloom producing paste-type fruit with an oblong oxheart shape that are solid and have a good sweet flavor.  6-10 oz indeterminate 85 days

Ananas Noir:  One of the most unusual coloration, going from dark red to green with shades of yellow in between. Stunning. Greenish flesh with red markings. Fruity, spicy taste is reminiscent of both black and bicolor tomatoes. Flavor also changes inside the same fruit. Large size. 80 days.

Aunt Ruby's German Green:  Large green beefsteak ripens to pale green with tint of yellow and pink blush underneath.  Sweet, yet spicy and delicious.

Beauty King:  Large stunning red yellow bi-color; good production.  Interior is yellow with bright red streaks, very meaty with a sweet tomato flavor.  12-20 oz 75-90 days

Berkeley Tie-Dye:  Green fruit with yellow and red stripes.  Interior is a true tri-color of creamy green flesh infused with various shades of red and yellow.  Each of these colors has a different flavor resulting in a sweet, spicy, tart tomato with good acid all in one fruit.

Berkeley Tie-Dye Heart:  Strong assertive flavor of Berkeley Tie-Dye with super dense meaty flesh.  Mid season, 75-85 days.  Indet. Wispy droopy leaves look like they need water when they sometimes don't. Wilt leaf gene is common in heart tomatoes.  Outstanding assertive tomato flavor.  Very meaty with almost no juice.  Mutation from Berkeley Tie-Dye.

Black Bear:  75 days, indet., regular leaf, 8-14 oz pink-black fruit, excellent flavor, high yield.

Black and Brown Boar:  Agressive grower and producer of 3-4' fruit with great flavor; dark earthy tones of rich tomato.

Black Brandywine: Brandywine type with dark red-purplish skin and green shoulders. Rich, complex flavor. Variable in shape, usually round and somewhat flattened. Medium to large size. Potato leaf type. This is the original Black Brandywine, also known as "True Black Brandywine"*.80-90 days

Black from Tula:  Russian heirloom; deep reddish-brown beefsteak with rich, sweet flavor; very productive and sets well in heat.

Black Plum:  Dark red, brownish plum tomato. Oval shape, medium size. Very productive. Tall plants. From Russia.

Black Russian:  indet., regular leaf, small chocolate/black round fruits with good smokey flavor typical for black tomatoes. 2-4 oz.

Japanese Black Trifele: Russian origin. In Russia the Trifele varieties of tomatoes (of which there are several colors) are highly prized and command big prices. This short potato leaf plant yields prolific quantities of 6 oz. fruit that looks like a beautiful mahogany-colored Bartlett pear with greenish shoulders. Very tasty flesh with a meaty core that produces luscious fruit all summer long. A work of art sliced out on a plate and a wonderful flavor that possesses extraordinary rich and complex flavors. The Black Trifele is one of the blackest varieties available and is resistant to cracking.

Black Zebra Cherry:  Cocktail size tomato with dark red skin and green stripes. So basically, a smaller version of Black Zebra. Tomatoes are amazingly firm, but they are also very good tasting (tangy-fruity). Round, 3-4 cm wide fruits with dark red flesh. Compact plants, about 40 cm high, determinate. About 70 days.

Bloody Butcher:  Bloody Butcher great early tomato that produces up to 10 per truss and each fruit will weight on average of 2oz and have a superb taste and productivity for an early tomato.

Blue Ridge Mountain: Large plants with potato leaf foilage and large pink beefsteak fruit with good flavor.

Box Car Willie:  Heavy crop of good-sized smooth, red tomatoes with a delicious flavor

Brad's Black Heart:  A black oxheart!  Large fruits, oxheart type, with plenty of tender, juicy flesh. Delicious. Nice, rich aromatic flavor.  Skin color is dark red with purplish hues. Slightly variable shape, usually like a fat strawberry. Medium size plants, about 1 m tall. Recently selected by Bradley Gates from California. 90 days.

Brandywine Sudduth's:  Legendary for its delicious taste and the Sudduth's Strain is considered by many to be the most delicious strain available.  It is simply an exceptional tomato that no gardener should be without.

Brandywine OTV:  80 days, indet., potato leaf, red with orange shoulders, great flavor, large to very large fruit, shows heat tolerance, good foliage cover, favorite.

Break o'day:  Medium-sized plant with reg leaf that is somewhat droopy.  4-7oz red globe-shaped fruit with good flavor, smooth and blemish free.  Fruits grow in clusters of 4-6.  A cross between Marglobe and Marvana in 1923.

Bulgarian Triumph:  Small fruits larger than the normal cherry growing in clusters of 4-6 with a strong, sweet taste.  Vigorous, sprawling medium-sized plant.

Carbon:  One of the darkest of the black tomatoes; dark purplish-brown outside with deep brick-red interior, rich yet sweet.

Cherokee Chocolate: Identical in terms of growth and fruit arrangement as Cherokee Purple, but a mahogany brown in color and sweet and rich in taste.  Tolerant of foilage disease.  Was a spontaneous epidermal mutation of Cherokee Purple.

Cherokee Green:  Medium to large size green fruits with nice lime green pulp. Mild flavored, low acidity. Around 85 days

Costoluto Genovese:  Indet., regular leaf plants with high yields of medium red, ribbed tomatoes. Very good old-fashioned taste.

Cowlick's Brandywine:  indet., potato leaf plants, large dark pink round oblate beefsteak fruits with very dense flesh and excellent flavor, which was more sweet than acidic for. 10-16 oz. Smaller seed cavities than Brandywine's, and slightly less juicy.

Coyote:  Originally it was a wild Mexican tomato called Coyote Tiny Yellow. A jewel-like cherry, that bears 6 to 8 on a branch. Very flavorful!  We'll grow this one every year!

Crnkovic Yugoslavian:  Family heirloom from Yugoslavia.  Large vines need caging or staking, 85 days, good yield of 8-12 oz (but sometimes 1 lb or more) oblate pink fruit with very good sweet rich flavor. One of the better yielding large-fruited varieties.

Druzba:  Virtually a problem free performer.  Good balanced flavor with a nice blend of flesh and juice; very high yield of 8oz to 1lb growing in clusters of 3-5. 

Early Wonder:  Extra-early, compact variety maks an impressive crop of round, dark pink tomatoes with an excellent, full tomato flavor.  They earn their name as it's a wonder an early tomato has so much flavor.  6 oz, determinate, 55 days.

Eva Purple Ball: Deep pink, reddish, tennis ball-size fruits. Mild, sweet, juicy and firm flesh. Thin skin. Old Germany heirloom, Black Forest (1880). 70 days.

Evan's Purple Pear:  Midseason 70-80 days. indet. potato leaf. Good to very good production, great disease tolerance typical of potato leaf.  2-3 oz. cluster, purple pear shaped fruit, with excellent sweet rich flavor. Ripe fruit has some hangtime. Originally from a Prudence Purple.

Green Doctors:  Green Doctors is a great tasting little wonder with a sweet lime flavor.  Cherry tomato, indeterminate.

Green Doctors Frosted:  The result of a spontaneous epidermal mutation of Green Doctors form yellow to clear skin.  Great flavor.

Green Sausage:  Marvelous green paste tomatoes with incredible zigzag pattern. Beautiful emerald green flesh. For fresh eating or to make salsa verde or green ketchup. Fruity, zesty flavor. Very productive, dwarf plants (50 cm), that are almost collapsing under the weight of tomatoes. Very long leaves (touch the ground). 80 days.

Green Zebra:  A favorite! These tomatoes are 2-3 oz green balls with yellow stripes, and a zingy green taste. The small, bushy plants are well suited to container culture. This highly productive tomato is always a hit. 90 days to maturity.

Haley's Purple Comet:  Wonderful large cherry tomato with sweet rich dark tomato flavor.

Heinz 1439:  Great for canning or processing as it puts out a concentrated set of tomatoes you can pick all at once. Heavy yield, right red and crack resistent.  6oz 70 days determinate

Hillbilly Potato Leaf: Gorgeous slicing tomato; sweet and juicy 4-6" flattened fruits about 1lb each.  Yellow fruit streaked with red on the blossom end; heavy producer.  Indeterminate 85 days.

Indian Stripe:  80 days, indet., regular leaf, high yield of dusky dark pink/purple fruits, slight green shoulders which are 100% edible, 6-10 oz, irregular fruit shape, most of the fruits are flattened beefsteak shapes, but a few smaller fruits resembled a flattened blunt heart, when the fruit set happened in cooler weather. Outstanding flavor.

Isis Candy:  80 days, large indet plant, regular leaf, 1 oz yellow-gold cherries with pink-red blush at the bottom, red-pink marbling inside, firm flesh with large seed cavities, very intense sweet flavor at the end of the season, really 'spices up' a tomato salad.  Many say it's the sweetest tomato they've ever tried, not a high yielding variety; not so sweet at the beginning of the season.

JD's Special C-Tex:  JD of Conroe, TX, stablized a cross between Brandywine and an unknown black tomato with the result being one of the finest tasting tomatoes with an  excellent rich flavor, similar to Cherokee Purple. Interior is solid and meaty, rich dark red/brown color. 8-14 oz.

KBX:  Potato leaf version of Kellogg's Breakfast; deep apricot orange beefsteak, creamy texture, 3-4 inches in diameter with most in the 12-16 ounce range. Some can get over 18 ounces.  Nice balance of sweet/acid taste that holds its own.

Kellogg's Breakfast:  85-90 days, indet., regular leaf, very large (1+ lb) orange fruits, excellent flavor, one of my favorite orange tomatoes.

Kosovo:  Huge, deep pink heart-shaped fruit has a sweet rich flavor and is very meaty while still being juicy.  Excellent production and an intense tomato flavor; can grow up to 1 lb.  Interminate 75-80 days

Kotlas:  early, indet. compact plant with potato leaf foliage, 1-2 oz red round fruits, some with pointed end, very good flavor for an early tomato, does not toletate cold and wet soil very well, hence I do not recommend to transplant it to the ground too early in spring, excellent fruit set in cool weather, excellent production, does well in 5 gal pots.

Large Barred Boar: Early to mid-early. Grows fairly stocky and not as tall as most indet.  8-12 oz. flattened medium beefsteak fruit, Very meaty. Pink brown with metallic green stripes and very flavorful.

Large Pink Bulgarian:  Deep pink fruit with superb, big bold taste; flesh is firm and dense and fruits weigh around 1lb but can reach up to 3lbs. 

Marianna's Peace:  indet., potato leaf plants, medium yield of pink beefsteak fruit, 8-16 oz, very good to excellent sweet flavor, nice texture.

Martino's Roma: Determinate variety that loads up with dark red pear-shaped fruits.

Mr. Stripey:  Late season, indet., regular leaf, very large yellow beefsteaks with pink/red blush on blossom end, 12-30 oz, very good sweet flavor, medium yields.

Noire de Crimee: Medium-sized plant produces high yield of fruits which often have green shoudlers that contrast nicely with the dark, rich purplish black color.  4-6 oz fruit in clusters of 5-7. 

Black from Tula:  An old heirloom that originated in the Ukraine many years ago. The 10-12 ounce oblate fruit are dark reddish black with green shoulders and have a very rich taste. The gel capsules inside the tomato are green. One of the best “black” tomatoes available. They add color to salads and make delicious tomato sandwiches. One of my favorites! Indeterminate, regular leaf foliage. (80 days from transplant).

Opalka:  Opalka is the exception to paste tomatoes not having great taste with its sweet flavor it's so good you can eat it off the vine.  Regular-leaf foilage is wispy and droopy, but the big plant is vigorous and usually has a high yield.  Excellent for sauce.

Pale Perfect Purple: 65 days, compact indet., potato leaf, good yield of perfect dusky pink round fruits, 4-6 oz, excellent sweet flavor; some cracking in wet weather

Piedmont:  Bicolor plum tomato. Oval to pear shaped. Size: 4 cm by 5 cm. Very nice fruity flavor. Marbled flesh. Around 75 days. High seed purity. Hard to find variety.

Pineapple:  Yellow-orange tomato marbled in red. Very large fruits. Excellent sweet and fruity flavor.

Pink Ping Pong:  Sweet, smooth and juicy, larger cherry; high yield, pink fruit the size of a ping-pong ball; 3-4 oz in clusters of 4-5.

Pork Chop:  Most "yellow" tomatoes are actually orange. This is a true yellow, starts off yellow with green stripes which ripen to gold. Mid season, 75-85 days. indet. regular leaf. medium size slightly flattened beefsteaks. Great sweet tomato flavor with hints of citrus.

Purple Calabash:  80 days, indet., ruffled purple/brown/pink fruit with green shoulders, very unique taste.

Red Brandywine:  Red Brandywine is an Old Amish heirloom dating back to 1885. Named after Brandywine Creek in Chester County, PA. Large, vigorous vines produce 8-12 ounce, deep-red fruits in clusters of 4 to 6. Excellent, robust, old-fashioned tomato flavor.

Red Boar:  Red colored mutation discovered from Green Zebra. Not related to other red striped tomatoes on the market, this one has won taste contests.  Another top notch performer in the looks, taste, production department.  Mid season, 70-75 days. indet. regular leaf. 2-4 oz. good to very good producer. Amazing yellow red stripes, great producer, winner if you want a smaller, juicy sweet tomato.

Red Plum:  Plant produces lots of 1 1/2-inch red, plum shaped cherry tomatoes with that are sweet & perfectly tart alongside the sweetness. Slightly thicker skin than most cherry tomatoes.  Great in salads and dehydrated.

Red Zebra: A natural cross. Plant yields huge amounts of 2-inch, red fruit with light yellow striping (or as some say, yellow fruit with red striping). Same shape as Green Zebra with red-yellow flesh.  Great tomato.

Rose de Berne:  French Heirloom. Some sources indicate that it is from Switzerland, probably because Bern (or Berne, to use the French spelling) is the capital city of Switzerland. 80 days, indet., regular leaf, medium-large perfect round oblate dark pink fruits, very pretty and blemish free, 8-19 oz, very juicy, thin skin, very good flavor.

Striped Cavern: Beautiful stuffing tomato; abundant 8 oz fruits, blocky, thick-walled red fruit with yellow stripes.  Keeps 4 weeks when harvested ripe.  Indeterminate 80 days

Sweet Carneros Pink:  2-4 OZ. Rose pink with gold colored stripes. After 4 years this has proven to be very near 100% pure and of excellent quality. Huge producer for 2009. Great looking with a nice sweet tomato flavor.

Tasty Evergreen:  Heirlom from Ben Quisenberry collection.  Skin ripens from green to light yellow-brown and flesh and gel remain green when ripe.  Luscious and tender, strong sweet flavor.  Medium-large fruits, very productive.  Indeterminate 75 days.

Vorlon:  The result of a cross between Cherokee Purple and Pruden's Purple.  Very productive, early midseason potato leaf plant with a high yield of 8-16 oz purple-black fruit with green shoulders and excellent flavor.

Watermellon Beefsteak:  Heirloom tomato tracing back to the 19th century; it is over 100 years old. According to Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds seed catalog, it was introduced commercially in 1958 by Glecklers Seedsmen of Metamora, Ohio, and was collected from West Virginia, where it had been grown for almost 100 years by a few mountain families. Indet., regular leaf, pink medium to large beefsteaks, 6-16 oz, high yield. Very good to excellent balanced flavor, smooth texture.

Winsall: Flavor is sweet and zippy and the fruit is firm and juicy and keeps well on the vine.  1lb or more in clusters of 2-3; indeterminate regular leaf.

Wisconsin 55: 80 days, indet., regular leaf, 4-12 oz red round fruit, blemish-free, even ripening, excellent flavor all through the season, very good yields; reliable producer in a bad summer.

Yellow Brandywine:  Large yellow fruit of exceptional quality, creamy texture, and delicious flavor. Fruit size is from 12 to 24 ozs., and tall vines have healthy, potato-leaved foliage. An extremely rich-tasting tomato, this one is also beautiful due to its smooth, not rough, shape. Indeterminate. 90 days.

Yellow Pear:  Large plant, definitely requires staking. Extremely high yield of small pear-shaped yellow tomatoes, about 1.5" long. Seems to do very well in dry and hot conditions, no problems with cracking/splitting. Good flavor, a good mild acidity and sweet flavor. Indeterminate, 70-80 days.

Cherries, Plums & Pears

Red Plum:  Plant produces lots of 1 1/2-inch red, plum shaped cherry tomatoes with that are sweet & perfectly tart alongside the sweetness. Slightly thicker skin than most cherry tomatoes.  Great in salads and dehydrated.

Yellow Pear:  Large plant, definitely requires staking. Extremely high yield of small pear-shaped yellow tomatoes, about 1.5" long. Seems to do very well in dry and hot conditions, no problems with cracking/splitting. Good flavor, a good mild acidity and sweet flavor. Indeterminate, 70-80 days.
